Ebdisam Alsammak

Since my childhood I loved to help people. I loved voluntary work. Looking at physicians’ treating patients was of interest to me. For this reason I’ve chosen physiotherapy as my career. Doing my degrees in different universities (Kuwait, UK, and USA) has enriched my knowledge base and practical skills. I am hardworking, competent, and compassionate. I have good leadership skills. As I did a lot of postgraduate courses in the area of musculoskeletal, this integrated in my work. My experience is vast and intensive especially in manual therapy.

I have about 17 years of experience working as a physiotherapist. I started with rotation in all physiotherapy specialties. Over the last 5 years I have managed to increase my knowledge base and clinical skills by attending post graduate courses specialised in manual therapy. Also through continuous reading of the literature which was related to my area of work. I have special interest in shoulder patients and craniofacial pain patients. I have dealt with a variety of cases. My experience in assessing and treating those patients are vast ranging from manual therapy, electrotherapy and exercises to instruction and education.

I continued my research activity directly after my master degree, and engaged my self in quality improvement programs. I felt that I am very competent especially in assessing and treating MSK patients. I think my skills and knowledge have come together to enhance my clinical assessment and treatment reasoning choices. Also I became more confident and well integrated within my area of work doing both in managerial and clinical work. I’ve held leadership positions ranging from senior physiotherapist to team leader to head of department and lastly chief physiotherapist for 4 physiotherapy departments in Bahrain.

I have willingness to share my knowledge, information and skills, and aid in training of others. I am a part time lecturer in a Private University, and have also presented lots of papers, educational sessions for the public and professionals, I have good teaching experience which helps when educating patients about their conditions.

I am committed to quality service, delivery and teamwork to achieve the best outcomes results based on evidence and research. I always make sure the development, implementation and review of protocols, handouts and best practice guidelines within the Musculoskeletal Outpatient service.

Outside my work life, I am a mother of three, I love to take care of them and spend most of time teaching them and enriching them with my experiences. I love to travel and enjoy nice scenes and getting to know people, different cultures and different experiences. I have interest in cooking and trying different recepies from all over the world. I enjoy reading all types of books.
