"...my aim is to provide education and treatments to all irrespective of social standing or wealth. I want to deliver a first class affordable physiotherapy service across the South Coast, providing patients best practice, ensuring optimal well-being and return to their normal activities as effectively as possible..."
During the 13 years that I have spent practising as a specialist musculoskeletal therapist, I have worked with elite and non elite athletes and have worked along side orthopaedic consultants, developing post operative protocols. In this time I have given lectures on sports injuries and have developed a specialist interest in the sporting shoulder, treating patients from amateur swimmers to professional cricketers. A high light in my career was being the team physio in the Portsmouth Special Olympics. This demonstrated to me no matter how different we are achieving goals is important to everyone, irrespective of physical and /or mental disabilities. I also provided physiotherapy to the talented athletes at Southampton University and gave advice and assistance to the trainers. "As a physiotherapist, I am fascinated by the way in which the human body moves and adapts to the mechanical loads that we place upon it. Working as a physiotherapist I have seen some of the most amazing power and strengths in the upper and lower body, beyond what we would normally regard as humanly possible. This has given me insight as to what is possible and there fore helps me to develop not only my patients but also myself. I gain job satisfaction in my work by not only treating patients and watching their recovery, but also in building a strong business model. I started in private practice running my own clinic in 2000 from a small single handed practice to a large healthcare establishment employing a variety of staff from physiotherapists to doctors across seven sites. I resigned from this position in 2007 and now want to focus on education and sport. I am also a medico legal expert witness. Out side of my busy work life it could be considered that I live my life to the full. I love networking and enjoy action sports such as snow boarding, power boats and water skiing. Being fit and healthy is important to me I have no time to be off work or away from sport, I can totally empathise with patients from all walks of life, whether a professional sports person or like me a socially active person , I appreciate the need to return to normal activity as quickly and as effectively as possible. I believe in team work, it is fundamental to the development of a persons overall wellbeing including social skills. With out my team I would not be in the privileged position that I am. I am truly grateful to them all!!
